How to Naturally Whiten Your Teeth at Home

Have you ever found yourself in the toothpaste aisle, comparing the pros and cons of chemical teeth whiteners? If so, then you probably experienced one of the following scenarios. Either you were worried about the damage bleach could cause to your teeth or you couldn’t bring yourself to drop forty bucks. If this sounds familiar, let me tell you some genius ways you can whiten your teeth naturally at home.

1. Brushing With Activated Charcoal

It may seem counterintuitive at first to brush with black charcoal, but this stuff works amazing at whitening your teeth. To use, simply dump a capsule into a cup, mix it with water and dip your toothbrush in. Brush your teeth with this mixture for 2 to 3 minutes and spit it out. Then, you brush your teeth with regular toothpaste and rinse really good.

2. Swishing Some Apple Cider Vinegar

If you don’t have any apple cider vinegar in your kitchen, go buy some now. Not only is it great for cleaning and cooking, but it’s also an excellent teeth whitener too. To create a rinse, use one part ACV and two parts water, then gently rinse your mouth with this for about one minute.

3. Brushing With Baking Soda

The simplest method of whitening your teeth is by use of baking soda. All you need is to get your toothbrush wet, dip it into baking soda, then brush for two minutes as usual. Make sure to thoroughly rinse your mouth with water afterward.

4. Oil Pulling With Coconut Oil

Oil pulling is another great method to try, all you need is some coconut oil and 15 minutes of free time. As Dr. Marianna Weiner DDS says, "Swishing it in your mouth, in and out of your teeth will do the trick." How does it work? It works because oil has antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties that kill bacteria, remove plaque, and lets you enjoy natural white teeth.

5. Crunching On Some Vegetables

Many crunchy vegetables such as carrots act as a natural toothbrush. While others like celery, cucumbers, and broccoli act to increase your saliva, which is helpful in getting rid of teeth stains.

6. Eating Cheese With Your Wine

Most of us are familiar with the fact that wine stains our teeth. The good news is there something you can do to help prevent it. All you need to do is simply take a bite of cheese before taking a sip of wine. The calcium contained in the cheese will cover your teeth with a film, preventing any erosion from the wine's acidity.

7. Brushing With Turmeric

Another great teeth whitening method is turmeric, even though it has a bright yellow color. To create a mixture, combine ⅛ of a teaspoon of turmeric with ¼ teaspoon of coconut oil. Brush with the paste for two minutes, then let it soak in for an additional two minutes, then rinse with water. Although it will stain your toothbrush, it will magically de-stain your teeth.
