Further to my note the other day, momentum for the Climate Deal Day Project (Weds. 26 Jan, 2011) is picking up, and we are hoping to build support through the rest of COP16 in a run up to an official announcement on Friday. This idea and its viral nature mean it is evolving rapidly, so i would encourage you to join the online group for updates and information. http://hub.vg/CDD when you get a moment.
We will announce the project on Friday at Noon Cancun time with a press release and the first tweet from the Twitter account, to repost. Please follow @ClimateDealDay
LINKS
We have created a Facebook Page and Twitter account to lead the project which will start to gather momentum soon:
We are working on a basic webpage ClimateDealDay.com /.org/ etc. live by Friday with some text and a simple description of the project, with links to the Facebook and Twitter pages which will lead the 'campaign'.
Then over the next several weeks we will be working on developing a more functional site that achieves more for us in terms of collaboration as we measure response and support.
CANCUN MEETINGS
The Hub Culture Cancun Pavilion will host planning meetings for the project at 11am on Wednesday and Thursday, if any of you would like to come and participate. http://hub.vg/findcancun
8 Calle Albatros, Cancun, off Kulkulan Avenue between KM6-7. Bring others.
ACTIVITIES
As of now, Hub Culture is planning a coworking day at the Davos and London Hubs on this day to gather business execs to work on their own climate deals. These workshop sessions will take further shape over the next few weeks, and serve as the confirmed anchor for the project, from which we can claim some deal success. Our (ambitious) goal is to get to 1 Gigaton in 1 Day of climate deals, from individual actions, business deals, and 1 Day consumer retail sales for upgrades/retrofits/efficiency.
We will then work with other organizations to help them organize their own coworking sessions, meetings and projects in whatever ways we can.
From there we will build, by spreading the idea with supporters and those who want to run with the idea in their own directions.
We will also be building support modules with Ven that allow different organizations to participate in their own way, at their own pace to be shared later.
PLEASE FORWARD to others you think would be interested to get in touch with us about the project.
